no more f*$#ing center brace to shade my tank hurray!!!!

now i have some time to type this out. so i finnally grew some balls and cut the center brace out of the 55. that was probably one of the most nerve racking projects i have yet attempted. i cut the brace with only 10 gallons drained from the tank and all inhabitants remained. the only precaution i took was to use a clamp on the tank while we were in the process of cutting the brace. and i am glad we used it. the clamp was actually keeping the glass flexed to much inward, so we had to adjust the clamp out a little bit to have the same fit as the factory brace. so the glass does have some flex and give. first we drilled the two holes for the 1/4 inch nylon screws, then we hit our first problem. ace hardware only sells 1/4" nylon screws in one size and those were to short. so we had to cut the hex on top of the bolt to fit in the small lip under the stock brace.. so that problem was solved so i cut the brace with a pair sheet metal scissors. and just bolted the brace in and took the clamp off. cracked the beers and watched the un-shaded beauty.

Is your tank grounded well ? Thats always been the main reason I found for alot of jumping fish..

toxins in the tank can cause fish to jump right out of the tank to their death, but i guess electric will do the same.

Hey Keith, whats up? yeah man what a difference that ground probe makes. Not only does it stop fish from diving, and corals frying, it also helps out any monitors you may have. My ph monitor was going crazy until I installed the probe.
