My emerald crab causes no problems at all in my tank.
...and I never see my nassarius snails eating any algae, they just clean up uneaten food and help stir up the sand. Scarlet legged hermits and turbo snails are the way to go.

they had some lettuce nudi's but ive heard so many stories of them not surviving, so did not get one.
Well dang....get thee more snails! Nassarius snails do not eat algae. Get about 20-30 astrea snails. How big are your turbo snails?

yeah i know the nass. are for the sand and not algae. sometimes im not so clear in what i say. sry.

and i know i proly dont have enough cleaners but i just cant imagine as many hermits, and snails, as some recommend, seems like i would be adding more load to the tank than helping it.

the turbos are pretty big, 2 ive had for a while are like the size of a half dollor maybe a lil smaller. ill get some astrea snail when they get em in. they stay smaller right? the turbos are just so clumsy and i got a good amount of coral, you can see the path they leave of closed lps behind them.from there shells rubbing them as the move by. think ill try a bunch of astreas befor i get more turbos.

sry for my lack of knowledge on some subjects, i am still a newb, actully i would say a sophmore. so bare with me, and thanks alot guys /gals for all your help.

Snails and crabs don't add much if anything to a tank's bioload And 20-30 more snails is not at all too many snails for your size tank Depending on what your lfs sells, you might want to mix them up. Some turbos, astreas, ceriths, margaritas....all good for controlling algae.

hey iraf that is a good idea, maybe! i wonder if anyone has tried it? ANYONE?
maybe ill try it on a small section. the only thing i can think of is the spores left to float around might not be good.

i was thinking about putting some black plastic sheets over some of the areas that are getting bad.
