| New Here Little background. Back in mid 80's had 65 g tank. Lion fish, big orange star fish and big puffer. No live rock, under gravel filter and one fan coral. Wow was I green. Looked great for 3 or so months and then total catastrophe. No internet at time, no real time for this type of hobby, and did not educate self to hobby.
Fast forward.
Cooked about 70 lb's rock in 29 g tank for a year. Some said too much patience. Went through many hardware situations but came out with critters and some awesome rock.
Now have 50 g tank drilled for overflow. 23 g refugium/sump setup working and in further R&D. Tunze Nano 9002 Skimmer, Koralia (4) of various sizes, and MD 950 return pump. Will be purchasing Tunze Osmolator for top off this coming weekend.
Starting mangrove in fuge with other plants for filtration and such.
Will be using a programmable controller for all functions such as to control 300 and 200 watt heaters, lighting and motor speed for return pump and Koralia's.
Have had nice pink urchin for about 6 months now, and crab that came with rock purchased from a buddy. No substrate in new main tank.
Lighting: 4-39 Watt T5 18k and 2-39 Watt Actinic.
18k 24 Watt and Actinic 24 Watt in Fug/Sump
New leather and brain in last two weeks. They look great IMO.
Parameters:
Nitrates- below 5ppm
PH- 8.2 8.4
Phosphates- my kit says 0 but then close enough!
Calcium- 460 usually
Add kalkwasser with top off
Also use Purple Up as directed.
This setup is now 3 and a half weeks old and about 110 lb's rock in main tank.
Every one is telling me to get a fish.
Any and all reflections will be appreciated. |

| Welcome to 3reef. You need to test your ALK, and Magnisum with all the others. you keep all of these rock solid and you won't need to put purple up in the tank, mother nature will do it for you. If you put any fish in just do it slowly. 1 every 1.5 to 2 weeks to allow the tank to stabilize. _________ Scott 265g (Peninsula)
