| Hi all Hello 3reef peeps.
I'm new to the saltwater hobby. Just started about two months ago.
I have a 60gallon acrylic tank with built in sump. (wish it didnt have that now that i want to make a fuge/sump and use all the space for display)
Currently have berlin turbo, koralia 2, 1 and rio pump for water circulation.
have two false percs, two fire gobies, a sand sifting gobie, and newest add is a watanabie angel female. pepermint shrimp for glass anenomes that appeared. cleaner shrimp and coral banded. 70lbs live rock. and 3" sandbed.
power compact lighting 10k 65k 420 and 460 65 watt bulbs.
Think i kind of started fast, wish i would've slowed down but the lfs is soo good at selling those neat little fish. lol.
water chem is;
nitrates 0
phos 0
calc 420
Kh 10dkh
still workin on test kits for the others hahaha.
i know its bad.
kind of just waiting to get my ph test kit should be gettin on this weekend.
I already have one but it doesnt work. said it was good for salt and fresh but only came with chart for freshwater. :[
working on some coraline growth for signs of good water param then going for some soft corals.
at least thats the thougth for now. lol |

Glad to see you finally found way here.
Wish you could have found us a bit sooner. Maybe we could have saved you from your very reckless LFS.
Expect you are in, or soon to be, big trouble.
With readings like that, with that many fish...you probably don't have a cycle yet, and your ammonia rates are going thru the roof (which you are not even testing for yet, unless you are planning on dead fish as an indicator that it is too high. )
Hoping for the best. Good luck.

| Yeah i know. the lfs is pretty money hungry.
the lfs had me set up the tank with established water and his live rock
since then i have changed to a diff lfs that has given me lots of advice and and feels sorry for me having done lots so quick.
I had a bad spike about a two weeks ago before i added the two of my fish.
Had hair algea and lots of brown diatom almost take over the tank.
I had to remove the rocks and scrub them down with a ro/di rinse and some good water changes and polyfilters some cheato in the sump with a little 10k light now its all clearing up and looking like its on the right track.
no casualties.
i have tested the ammonia and reads 0.
thanks for the links and the pointers and the welcome.
i will def be doing some good reading.
all the post on this forum have been very informative and helpfull
also adding some remorse for the trigger happy additions.
i'll keep you guys updated on the tank and let you know if it pulls through, |
