I had the same tank for about 8 yrs. I personaly dont like HOB filters, so I cant help you there. I did have a wet/dry and it worked great for me. I also had PC's, (2) 65watt bulbs. One was the daylight and the other was actinics. I didnt have every coral under the sun, but I had the basics( zoas, lta, shrooms, yellow polps, ricordias, open brain and candy corals). I was told at the LFS when i got it that it was an Atlantic anemone. I have a 90 gal. I hope one day it look like yours.
