Question Hello

I just wanted to say hello and that I am new to this forum and to this hobby. I have a 24 gal aquapod with about 20 lbs of live rock and did the wrong thing but everything is going fine. I have had the tank running for eighteen days now and I have a false perc, goby, and a coral banded swrimp in it. I took a water sample to the per store about about a week and they told me my tank was already cycled. So I added the abouve items. All my readings are doing fine but im registering 0 on everything across the board. I did cut my lights offs and just have my lunar ones going to prevent so much algae growth. I used ten lbs of live sand and twenty lbs of live rock out of a reef tank that was fully cured. Is it possible that my tank is already cycled???? Bill

To 3Reef!!!

Salutations! Glad to see you found way here!

??? Tank Cycled...Possible, with "fully cured" LR. You will know soon enough if water params go sidesways and fish start to die...

Hope for best.

I hope so too. The fish are eating fine and acting ok. The temp is stable at 78 to 79 degress and the salinity is 1.023. I hope that I didn't act to quickly but only time will tell....Bill...

Welcome aboard mate. My suggestion to you is to find another LFS that wont give you bad advice. Even if I have cured LR and LS, your still going to go through the cycling process, maybe not as long as 12 weeks, but a cycle none the less. That LFS should know better than to sell you stuff that you dont need yet. Shame on them.

Be prepared for some quick serious water changes if tank starts to cycle.

Get fish into holding tank...

Hope all works out!
