| Hello! Hi everyone! I just joined this site, and the things I've learned from the few forums I've read is totally great! Before, I have no idea that you'd have to have a lot of gadgets to keep a saltwater aquarium. I just learned how a protein skimmer is supposed to work, how you should test your aquarium for its salinity (and all those other tests)before you even put fishes in there, and that lighting is of utmost importance in keeping a saltwater aquarium.
I used to have a saltwater aquarium back home. Originally, I'm from the Philippines and I just got here in the US, 'bout 6 months ago. I had a 100gal fish tank, with lots of fishes in it. I used to have a Lionfish, Bluetang, Moorish Idols, and lots of other species I couldn't even name. When I started reading this forum, I realized how irresponsible I was to have had them without any knowledge on how to care for them, and I also realized that I didn't have to change the water once in every 2 months if I have the proper equipments running on my tank.
It's easy to buy saltwater fishes in the Philippines, it's like buying milk from Walmart. I would only pay those fishermen $10 to bring me any fish I want, it don't matter if they bring me 20 or 30 fishes. I would even cramp them in one tank(I only have one).
Now that I realized how wrong I was, I wanna make it right the next time I decide to have my own aquarium. But I'm gonna need all the advise I could get from all the experts here.
Ignorance is bliss, but when the truth dawn's on you, guilt takes over. Sorry guys for all the things I've done before. I hope you'll still help me make it right. |

Welcome to 3Reef AND the U.S.A.!!!
You sound like you have already learned much about keeping a reef aquarium.
Take time to read the below link, which will explain much about the hobby and the responsibility that goes with it.
Yep, you are going to find your fish critters are much more expensive here. (but may mean we appreciate them that much more)
If I lived in the Philippines, I would not even bother to keep a tank. I would just be in the water every day!
Good luck, and once again welcome! _________ AG "125," AquaC EV 180, 30 gal sump, "SCWD", 80 lbs LR, CoralSeaLife "Moonlite" Hood, PFO 250W HQI Mini-Pendant (SPS HQI 14000k bulb)

| Hello and welcome to 3reef! Welcome to the good 'ole US of A as well!
You know, you took one major step forward in that you realized that you made a mistake by packing your tank to the limit and then some and also the fact that you could take fish from their natural element legally or illegally and realized the implications of doing so is commendable by you.
Anyway, welcome again and best of luck and you found a great place to learn and help ensure your success in the saltwater hobby. _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F.
