Hello, everyone!
Ive been into fishkeeping for over 15 years now, started in freshwater community tanks, moved up to a larger (for me) South American cichild biotope tank, and now Im finally going to do what Ive always wanted to do since I started the hobby, build a long term reef tank.
That said, I am a "casual" guy in the hobby. I dont take things too seriously but want to do things right. I dont breed fish or anything unless they happen to do it etc etc, My weakness is that Im not too knowledgeable about diseases.
Ive got a single 75 gallon aquarium (long story about why Im converting it). Im in this hobby to have fun and learn something.
Although Im a rank beginner in reef keeping, I hope to contribute something to this community!

Please don't misinterpret, and I may be sounding a bit "preachy" - but you do need a degree of seriousness in this hobby. It is certainly not for the lackadaisical or one who does not want to take full responsibility for life he is attempting to keep, despite the sometimes large costs $$$)

welcome Jwalsh, theres alot of articles and info here to learn from
as well some books that are readily availible out there.
Young GWAAAS-HOPPA , you must learn da ways of salt wata".
(silent meditation is optional here but not nessasary) LOL
Also being "lax" in the salt water world is a big no-no , if you continue to read in these forums' you'll often find the
phrase (i'm anal) < .

Yes, I should clarify that my "casual" statement was meant more towards Im not a breeder, I dont have a hundred tanks, etc etc, not as an indication to my level of involvement.
Id actually love to have a hundred different litte biotopes, but I realized early on that for me, a single tank that I can concentrate on is what works best for me, that way nothing gets neglected. | |
