| Geofrs Hello all,
I am an ancient English noobie, Retarded to Mallorca Spain.
I am in the process of setting up my first Marine Reef tank of 200 gallons and still getting the gear together, The only problems I have is sourcing the Inverts corals etc as there seems to be a shortage of suppliers on this small island.
It is so nice to see the help that is available to Noobs on this very informative site, and I hope to be able to give some help in time if I keep breathing.
Best wishes to you all Geoff. |

| Hello Geoff, and welcome to 3reef!
I am glad that you found our close knit family of reefers here, each, able to contribute their own knowledge, experience, triumph and pitfalls along the way!
You will learn alot here, I assure you, and should make you a successful reefer! The best thing for you to do, in addition to spending time here at 3reef, is to to read, research and take things slow!
YOU will be able to help other reefers as well, no matter what your experience level is as everyone has a story, knowledge and experience to display and tell!
Best of luck and again WELCOME! _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F. | Welcome to 3reef. Do all your research and engineering up front before you put water in the tank and you will have a happy and healthy piece of the ocean. _________ Scott 265g (Peninsula)

Best wishes to you all Geoff. | Salutations Geofrs,
I am also an "ORF" (Old Retired Fart) - from US Army - now residing in the Pacific Northwest in same town I grew up in.
Was lucky enough to have visited Mallorca years ago in my single service days (1985). - nearly went blind from oogling all the beautiful topless beauties on the beaches - also the great bars and clubs nearly did me in physically.
You are going to need to seriously consider either a chiller or a room air conditioner going full time to counter that great warm dry weather.
Are not there any natural reefs in that part of the Med you could collect from?
A reef tank is probably a good idea. Will keep you off the beaches and risking blindness also...
Good luck and best wishes on your endevors...keep us informed how it all goes - Welcome! TO 3REEF

| Hi Omard (youthful old Fart) Hi Omard,
Thanks for the welcome.
I am afraid that Mallorca has gone down-hill only Rotund North Europeans go topless now (I should not throw stones).
One can get to be a raving Alcoholic here as the Drinkies are very cheap after the UK.
I am a bit of a tender creature so air con is installed so should have no probs heat wise, I would suffer more without! LOL
As to reefs there are some but collecting is frowned upon, but it has crossed my mind as there is a lot of interesting critters here.
Many thanks for you salutations, and will give some info when I get sorted
Nice to Hear from you, and hope your sight is OK
Best Regards Geofrs [/quote] |
