Default Switching from CC to LS

Hi all, when I get back from Dallas in a couple weeks I'm planning on switching my CC Bed out for a LS bed. Are there any recommendations on how to best do it without a sand storm? Also will 60 lbs be enough for a 72 gallon bowed? I'd like about 2-3 inch bed.

I intend to do the same soon as one of my local stores can get me some Caribsea super reef or grand Bahamas biome. I understand it's one lb. per gallon. I was told if your tank's established you don't need live sand and to swap half your cc, wait 2 weeks, then do the other side. Now the best method to remove the cc IS going to be interesting and haven't thought of the best way to do that yet... keep me posted!

You read my thoughts...am waiting to read the responses to these questions. Is it a bad idea to just top up the CC with LS. I like the look of LS and my intention would be purly aesthetic unless there is an entirely different game to it ( combination of the two).

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm glad I can just get regular sand instead of live. That will save me some $$$. The two week 50/50 change is probably sound advice and I will take that to heart. I'll let you know how it goes, with pictures of course. Maybe next week I'll get started on that when i get home.

Thanks again.

aye, keep us/me posted. I'm waiting on 2 bags of super reef to come in and then I'll be tackling it as well. I'd like to know your experience if you do it before I do it.

Will do, probably will start it when I get sand when my DIY sump/fuge is done. I'll take pictures and document the whole thing.

You can't just change it all at one shot.. Remove half of the old C.C replace with new dry aragonite then wait two weeks to do the other half of the tank.Don't rinse the dust out use it dust and all. The dust will boost the water apameters with Ca Carbonates and stront and Mag.. Just like Purple Up or argromight .

Thanks Tangster.

I had planned on doing the 50/50 change with two week wait and also plan to use the crushed coral from my tank as substrate for my fuge.
