| Q's: about sand and rock placement. Hey check it out guys/gals i just bought some sand and was wondering if anyone has this same sand? ~~50 LBS~~ULTRA PREMIUM - LIVE SAND - YOUR CHOICE - eBay (item 160222989182 end time Apr-02-08 10:16:24 PDT)
He's will be sending me the fiji (fine)
So the questions i have are these...
Q: placeing rock ON sand causes black spot under rock overtime, true? Placing sand around rock turns it black as well? So anywhere the sand is touching the rock will turn black? If so, How do i prevent this OR is it ok?
Q: What is the best way to put sand and rock in a tank.
Q: How long will live sand last with out bing in a tank...I haven't yet bought the rock and it might be a week or two till it arrives. Should i put the sand in and let it cycle the sand and then put the rock and let that cycle?
Sub Q: will the live sand survive the rock cycle?
Thanks everyone for all the help!! <3 this place 3reef _________

| For about $4 more you could of bought 40 lbs of Fiji Pink and not had to worry about what was in it, just dump it out of the bag.
As for placing the rock in your tank it should go in first and sit against the glass. If you just set it on the sand and every get a golby that likes to dig he will probably topple your rock work when it shifts because of the sand being dug out. _________ Scott 265g (Peninsula)

| I gotta check this guy out. When I move, I am replacing all of the sand in my tank, and he sounds like the perfect source.

| I agree with Otty 100%, always what I heard and what I did. Although I did put my sand in 1st then put my 3 base rocks in. I wiggled them back and forth until I felt it hit the glass. Don't do it hard, just slowly until you feel the resistance from the bottom of the tank. It seems to have worked for me! _________ 55 gallon slowly growing reef aquarium, 85 lbs. live rock, 2 1/2" sandbed, 1 False Percula Clown, 1 Sixline Wrasse, Tetratec PF500 filter, 2 110 watt URI Super Actinic VHO actinics, 2 250 watt metal halides with Reef Optix 2 reflectors powered by Blue Wave 3 ballast, born 1/3/08 My Tank Thread My Tank Video |
