    Hello everyone,

In a few weeks I will be moving into my new home and have to move my 75 gallon reef tank. I currently have 40lbs of sand in the tank that is about 5 months old. When I move the tank I wanted to add another 40lbs of sand for a deeper sand bed. Is that ok to do? Will this start another cycle? Also should I clean the old sand before putting it back in the tank?

I would reconsider doing a deeper sand bed again. I had one for months and was constantly fighting a nitrate problem, now i'm at 1" and nitrates haven't gone over 40

The sand should be no more than an inch deep (any deeper you get pockets of decomposition that you do not want)

    Good luck with the move
