That is a good way, I think that you are right to use tap water for this though. I did, and I didn't have any diatoms due to it.

| Giant Squid | That is why I mentioned it. I know that your RO water is something like a ratio 1 gallon or RO to 4 gallons of waste water. I don't know if you could use your waste water or not.

I used 160lbs in my 210g and I only have about a 1-2"sand bed.
