Default mixing sand?

Im wondering if it would be beneficial to mix different sand grain sizes. Its for a 90 gallon. Here is the link: Aquarium Substrates: Nature's Ocean Bio-Active Reef Sand and Reef Substrate

Wanted to get maybe 60 lbs of the sand and 20lbs of the substrate. Im thinking maybe the shells and such would help animals like jawfish build better burrows and such.

I'm not sure about the sizes you talked about, but for my 55 I had already purchased a bag of Aragamax and realized I was going to need more. Tangster recommended going to a slightly larger size with the seaflor special grade stuff, rather than toss the aragamax I'm going to mix a bag of each and see how that works out.

I have always heard that if you mix, to keep the different sands in layers, not to actually mix them together. If you mix them, it becomes worthless, but keepign them in layers helps with the DSB if you have one.

Eventually the finer of the two substrates will settle under the larger. So, the larger of the two will eventually take over your tank bottom with a hint of the finer stuff.
