Default marine sand

I just bought some marine sand from my lfs. It is called ultra reef and is made by estees'. It says that it is safe and non toxic and is for aquariums, fresh and salt. I did the vinegar test. NO FIZZ. I guess this is silica sand? HAs anyone ever heard of this product. The sand is white and very fine. Is this okay? I hope I didn't mess up! It's already in my tank.

Default Re: marine sand

I'm sure you didn't mess up It is non-toxic and although I searched their site for an msds sheet to see what it is made from. I could find nothing. You could call them and ask or you could look on the bag and see if it lists the contents. At best it is an aragonite based sand at worst it is silica based. Either way you are not hurting anything.
