Default Er isn't this the tank that had copper problems

HI,
Getting copper out of rock is much harder than bugs not sure you can.
Better to get new clean sterile rock and start over.
Doug

It wasn't a copper problem, more of a bad batch of red-slime remover (I guess), or, a lack of specific instructions on the box.

Anyway, that's water under the bridge. Looking forward to my new setup!

Live and learn.

I have boiled hundreds of pounds of live rock. (I boil for longer than 10 minutes though). I've also bleached LR. Frankly, why people want all of the "life" is beyond me. Back when the Berlin method first came out, everyone understood that the only life you need for live rock is bacteria. Dr. Shimek and a couple of others confused people by convincing them that tiny filter feeders and diversity were needed for a reef tank and that just isn't true.

Brian,

Right on the bottle it says, "Purple Up does not contain coralline algae. Some living coralline algae must already be living on rocks or aquarium glass".
