I just switched from Kent to Instant Ocean Reef Crystals. Not sure if I'm happy with RC yet (only been 2 weeks), but the magnesium/Ca/Alk levels are all higher than in Kent, which is a good think in my opinion.

I use Oceanic, Reef Crystals, or Instant Ocean. All depends on what I can get for a good price.

Would the reefers (Sorry if that's a derragatory term..) on this site recommend for or agaisnt using catalina water (catalinawater.com), real ocean water...

It's on sale at my local PetCo store for $5.99/5 Gallons, about what I'd pay for water and salt. I plan on setting up a 55gallon fish only tank for 3-4 fish at first and adding from there on..
Seems like a great deal, but I've never seen ocean water in a box sold before.

Any reviews? suggestions?

I was using instant ocean since day 1 with the hobby, but my last 3 buckets have been reef crystals.

I wont use anything else.

I just switched to Reef Crystals to see if it would help boost calcium levels. Only been about a month with small water changes - so no increase yet. It dissolves better than Instant Ocean, IMO.

Have you tested the water before you add it to the tank. That will tell you if it's high in CA or not
