They have been using Radio Waves for cooling for a good amount of time the send electrical waves to mechanical oscillator and then that cools the surrounding oils like those little pick chiller's used for aquariums thats just radio waves and the mechanical oscillator not as efficient in some ways yet as a Fluorine aka HFC Refrigerant is on a large scale . But they have been working with Lasers and soon they will have it for homes and other applications on a large scale ..

But the heat from the flame this guy used to heat a thermocouple to produce electric power to run that small motor if its efficient enough could be used to run a gas power compressor in a A/C or a refrigerator where the heat of the flame boils the freon to the point of high pressure rather then a elect compressor pumping it down to a higher pressure. hell even a Nat gas powered elect generator even could be ran on this ..Maybe its not what its said to be or I'm sure Honeywell or Robert shaw or white Rodgers would be all over it now .. Not to mention DuPont or not to mention the 4 major compressor manufactures LOL I'll wait for the movie.

Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible.
