The ph level of the water tests low 7.6 - 7.8 ish. any ideas? all other tests seem to be fine.
Now i could be my test kit i am using the 5 in one quick dip tests.
Any ideas? | do you aerate your water. This will help with PH

| Er is there enough mag in your water. HI,
I had problems with Ca it would precip when water was changed this was traced back to a Mag deficiency, that lead to a High PH and High Kh its real hard to get CA to dissolve when things get a little out.
Doug
ps I now believe a bloom of coraline algae may have contributed to my chemical problems some things are used up faster than other's with excess coraline and that can cause precip.
Things to watch CA, Mag, Kh.

| many of those high end Salts HI,
Ive read all the ingrediants in those special salts and they seem to have a little more calcium,
Some of the synthetic salt companies add a little to much borate and other staiizing things that can build up in your tank with the constant adding of more water during that 10 % excchange.
,they can be problematic for some inverts.

| NSW has a Alkalinity of 2.5 meg/l and borate makes up 0.1 -0.2 % of that. When I use to mix my own buffer I always added more borate to help with P.H stability and helping to keep the Bicarbonates from shooting it up to high and to fast. So a little more borate is not an entirely bad thing. _________ Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible (Doug Larson) |

| I use small mixing pumps in each bucket. This helps mix the salt well and add air. They were only about $10-15ea through Dr. F/S. _________ 120 RR AGA, 2000gph, 840watts lighting, Aqua C- 150 (w/ mag12), DIY Kalk Reactor, 7 years reef keeping |

| I use IO and have a Modified Maxijet 1200 to do my mixing. Talk about moving a lot of water... There will be no salt not mixed after running one of these for 15 minutes. Took me about 20 min to do the mod. _________ Scott 265g (Peninsula)

| I've been using Oceanic for 3 years. My calcium is at 420 with no additives. My PH stays at 8.2. My alk however is constantly low at around 6 dkh, so needs to be buffered. I do aerate my mixing water also. I love this salt, but I guess everyone likes the kind they use, or they wouldn't use it. Good Luck!!
