Default Oceanic Salt

Well since I received the 5 gallon bag of salt from oceanic I knew I would need a little more so when at petsmart I saw they were carrying it so I picked up 2 more 5 gallon bags.

Got home and filled the old tub up with exactly 10 gallons and added 2 bags of salt. Mixed that for 2 hours and tested the SG.
I was surprised that the reading was 1.019 so tested with and other swing arm tester and it was the same.

Ended up using 1/3 of the 3rd bag to get the SG to 1.023.

It did mix every well and faster then Kent or IO or Corallife salt.

We will see if there is a change when the lights come on tomorrow.

I received mine all the way up here in Canada.
I used it right away but unfortunately didn't really test anything while mixing. I know My Bad.

I did find Oceanic salt at Petsmart. However the department manager did not know if they are going to continue carrying it or not as it was a new product for them. Are there other 3Reef members that have been able to get this from Petsmart consistently?
The 90gal container was going for $30 but I don't want to start with one salt mix and then have to change liferafts in mid ocean.
I did find it online for $27 but then there is that exhorbitant shipping fee because of the weight.

I have found it at Petsmart petco and petorama.
The company that promotes this salt has major backing dollars.

It will be around so I don't believe you will have to worry.

I really like what I am reading about this salt mix online. In as much as all the discussion of RO water and not having it laying around the quick dissolving properties claimed about this mix sound good to me.

Once RO/DI water is mixed with salt you should not have to worry that much about bacteria.
