Default How much salt

Does anyone know how the ratio of cups of salt to gallons of water. Say i want to make a mix of 3 gallons, and i want it to be 1.025, how many cups of salt do i put in.

P.S.- I use kent salt

Roughly a bit more then 1/2 cup per gallon to get to 1.025, so a bit above 3 cups. I mix 15 gallons with 8 cups to get to 1.026.

hehehe ...sorry , I'm laughing with you...not at you...!!!




funny though...every time I do the 1/2 cup per gallon I get like 1.019 or so... I end up adding more salt at the end of the mixing stage. I powerhead-stir mine in a trash can for awhile (and heat) before adding to main tank... then check with my floating hydrometer..

I finally got 1.025 last time!!

I use 2 US Cups of Sea Chem or IO salt for 4.5 gallons of water and that comes out to about 1.024
