| High Salt Readings Hi
When i filled my tank with water i added the salt a day or two later, waited for the temperature to rise to aid dissolveing, it read 1.025 great.
But since i have added my hydor koralia 2 powerhead, it must of disturbed the salt at the bottom and mixed it more now i have a reading of 1.028 is this way to high, i have 1 yellow tailed damsel cycling my tank at the mo? |

| depending on tank size if its say 50 gallons then pull about 3 to 4 gals out and replace with freshwater. That should put you near to 1.024 or 1.025 also how are you testing the salinity ? _________ Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible (Doug Larson) |

| It is a 50 gallon & i have a 2 inch gap from the top water free, i left it there for when i add rocks, so will just top up, i use a refractometer to test the salinity. |

| I take my SG readings every other day. If it's high I top-off with RO/DI fresh water simply labelled "T" for top-off. If it's to low I top-off with RO/DI 1.023 premixed water, labelled "ST". That keeps me at 1.025 on the button.
I always have 5 gallons of fresh and 5 gallons of pre-mixed on hand at all times for top-offs only.
I also do 10 gallons of RO/DI pre-mixed for water changes weekly. To get around the 1.023 pre-mixed dropping my SG from 1.025 I take out 9 gallons and add back 10 of the pre-mixed. Then I know my next top-off will be fresh water with minimal increase in my SG.
It's been working like a champ for me. Hope I made sense in describing it.
