The last few bags of io salt mix i have picked up at the local fish store seems to not have any buffer for ph in it i get the same ph reading from the water straight from my ro/di unit as i get from a barrel of salt water mixed up about 7.2 has any one else come across this. it used to be a ph of 8.3 when i mixed salt water up just like clock work now i have to use ph buffer to raise it be because it mixes out at a ph of 7.2 tops.

Sounds like you are purchasing per mixed saltwater from your LFS. I would ask them what they are doing?

"bad batch" is quite the understatement if it's mixing to nearly neutral pH. Are you sure your test kits are okay? Are you mixing it up to 35ppt? Are you aerating your fresh saltwater for a few hours? If you're sure everything's okay on your end, complain and get a refund.

hahahaha! I didnt tell them what to read, just to search that, lol! Aparently theres been a few people complaining about recent batches. IO salt is only good for FO/FOWLR, thats about it anyways thats why they make Reef Crystals(same company that makes IO)

Yes, IO and RC has had their fair share of problems, my recommendation is to avoid both until they can get their act together, which will most likely be a long time. I did post my test results on the another thread in reagards to salt can't hurt to check that one out.
