Default Sump Questions (Flow&Design)

So after reading this im still a little confused as to how the different levels in this flow... and if there are any like.. "seperated" areas of this sump.....

anyways here is the pic from melevsreef.com




and this is my interpretation of flow... with a few questions built into the image...


Thanks to anyone who helps me clarify , im ready to build this today.

As I see it, you have a combo refugium/sump system. A refugium needs to have a slow flow or else your not doing anything really and if I remember correctly, the DT should flow into the refug first then the skimmer. Wait until someone chimes in and clarifies.

and he says drain into skimmer first, return pump in fuge...
