Default Starting a new refugium

Hello everybody, was hoping you guys could help me out with something that has been bugging me. I am trying to figure out how to put my new sump into my aquarium but not sure what to do. I currently have a wet dry filter with a protein skimmer. Water enters the filter through an overflow and i have a submersible pump that pumps the water back out. I have another pump in the filter that pumps water into the skimmer which dumps water back into the filter. So now i have about a 30 gal sump that i want to act as a refugium. So should i run the two of them together or just use the refugium? I am having a problem getting the skimmer pump and return pumps to all fit in the refugium. Any ideas let me know please. I am hesitant to take out the wetdry because i am not sure if the tank would be ok without it. If you have any question please let me know. Thank you ahead of time for your input.
Dave

How big is the tank? How much LR do you have. With enough rock, you may be doing more harm than good with the wet dry. We can probably help more with more tank info, but my initial guess is to take the wet dry out. It is likely just housing nitrates.

Hope this helps,

Aaron

If your real nervous about removing your wet dry you could setup an external fuge. Use a small powerhead to pump water into. Rig up an overflow back into your sump. The advantage been that you could setup the fuge up and let it mature before your pulling the media out of the wet dry. Just a idea.
