skimate alteration

hi there could someone advise as to what is occuring with my skimate.
approx a month ago i introduced some macro into my sump compartment and started the refugium. over the period of this month my skimate has turned from dark brown into a very light wet green skimate. the skimmer cup still fills up over approx 36 hours but as i mentioned is different prior to installing the refugium.
does this mean that my skimmer does not need to be on all the time????
PS my skimmer has not been adjusted since the dark brown skimate was produced it will not adjust any furthur to try so.

Refugiums really do work and it is better to leave your skimmer on all the time

What kind of skimmer do you have and why can't it be adjusted? It sounds like you are simply producing too much wet foam.
