Default Refugium Pump!

I've started setting up my fuge - My original plan was to stick the outlet of my canister into it - but after experimenting i've come with the conclusion that the fuge will just overflow. so i was going to create a slower flow from the pipe using a t peice and 6 mm airline. Problem is the water will not come out of the T pasrt of the t peice!

Any ideas in what to do?

I'm not sure, but this may help. This guy setup DIY overflow. You could probably use smaller ID piping to get slower flow. You'd probably want t cover it with some plastic mesh or something.

Hope this helps.

Cheers for that - but im dumb so i dont know what im looking out for in the vid lol

Just to give you guys an idea this pipe

Is the outlet from my canister filter. Its too powerful to put directly in the Fuge so i tried to use this t piece

But the water will not flow from the 5mm pipe! How can i get the water to come through? or am i going about this wrong?

Do you have the other side of the T going ot the sump? what you could do is get a T with equal diameter ends and a valve. you would beed more hose as well, but the valve will let you slow the flow to the fuge.

What you have with that Tee set up is a mono-flow fitting or a simple venturi the larger pipe has water moving by the smaller opening so fast it actually is creating negative pressure on the smaller barbed fitting and is sucking in air. What you could and the only thing you could do is the restrict the water above the tee to create back pressure then it will go out of that 3/16th barbed stub..

As for the DIY video Nope that is nothing more then an inverted anti-siphoning S trap. And they are used on older homes with no venting to the Lavatories and when they have about totally drained the sink bowl they suck air and almost shake the bowl they pull so hard to break the siphoning vacuum. i could not live with that noise all the time.. If any of y'all ever lived in a older house and saw that huge chrome trap under a sink that went down through the floor then you know the sound..
