I Keep Cauerpa and Chaeto on a 24/7 but I think I might switch to a reverse photo period and light 16hrs a day. This way the fuge has at least 8hrs of dark. One of the reasons that people light 24/7 is to keep caulerpa from going sexual and in this regard it has worked for me, but I am having less than optimal growth rates.
It would be interesting to see some experiments with photo period to determine what produces the best growth. Check out melvesreef.com, he does an experiment growing chaeto under different colors of light. Interesting, Looks like I'll be trying that 51k.
