Default Reducing the Water Flow

So ive read that you only want your refugium to cycle only its volume once a hour. How do you guys get your flow to be that slow? Also this tank is seperate fromt he main tank and sump. It sit level with the main tank in the back of it. Any ideas on how to plume this to the rest of the system and only have 1x tank flow?

You can always add a T that allows you to channel some of the water straight back to the area that pumps the water back up to the tank.
Just remember to add ball valvues so you can control it.

The other way to do this would be to separate your fuge / sump into 2 or more areas. The water flow through the fast area could be your sump and the water flow through the slower area could be your fuge.

Jim

This way you could still keep the water flow from your tank to the Sump/Fuge at the full capacity of your return pump.
