oh, wonderful fuge!!

I tend to get busy and spend more time looking at my main tank than my fuge...well, today I had a little spare time and decided to do some good looking. Whoa!!! There was a baby brittle starfish! Also, many, many small little critters that look like baby fish. They have a big eye and little fish like bodies. I have pods and mysis shrimp galore, but I've never seen these little guys before. Anybody have any ideas as to what they are???

What else is in your refugium/display? The larvae had to come from somewhere, eh?

Isn't it wonderful :-)

As you are aware the ocean is a soup of organisms, with a lot of spores, eggs, microscope thingies that live in and refuge in live rock. Every piece of live rock ( like when you get some coral ) has lots of different organisms on it and in it. What has happened is some of them have found their way to your refugium.

thanks for the replies, guys! My fuge consists of chaeto, halimeda and several small pieces of live rock. I also have a tube aemone in there, which my B/F brought home for his tank. I quickly told him that the LFS steered him wrong, these buggers eat small fish. He's now quite happy in the fuge. I have been seeing pods and small shrimp (which I'm assuming is mysis) for ages, but I've never seen these little fishy-like things. Someone said they might be baby mysis, could be, who knows. My fuge is fed from the main tank, so maybe some fish eggs got transfered over? Guess I'll have to wait and see!
