Default Need Help/advice From The Guru's

I want to add a refugium to my existing system but the only problem is that the only space I have is to the right of the wet dry/sump. As you can see I have a bulkhead with a 1" pvc(capped) installed to the right of the wet/dry. I was wondering if I can place a smaller tank that would fit in that space and just connect it to the wet/dry via the bulkhead and then put a small pump to pump out the water back into the wet/dry. What do you guys think? Im open to any suggestions. Im not crazy about HOB or IN-tank refugiums. Thanks Luna

the water in the sump seems high.

for the fuge, if it was me:
turn the bulkead fitting around so the white pipe is inside the sump to allow more room outside

the gray main tanks drain line i would use flex pvc and T off a line with a valve to supply the fuge

measure the area to the right and call Glasscages.com - Home to have a tank made to fit that area, the tank must be higher than the sump, gravity drain into sump.

i doctored your pic to get a closer look, heres a pic of mine. the line from the chiller feeds the fuge with a T to control the flow into the fuge the rest gets dumped into the sump. the fuge drains by gravity into the sump.

or redu the entire under area of the tank and have glasscages make two tanks for ya, both the same size to fit the area. since it seems the tank that is there now is quite large in comparison the area its in.

what are the measurements of the space under the tank?

The space is roughly a 16" X 16". To be very honest, the main reason Im considering a refug, is to help raise my PH. My NO3's are under control at 5-10ppm and I found out what was keeping NO3 at 20ppm. Do you think if I just put a light over the sump, will that help with ph? Or will that cause more harm than good?

I tested my water yesterday and are;
salt-1.024
Ph--8.0
Nh3/4--0
No2--0
No3--5-10ppm
Po4--0
Mag--1320
Cal--420
DKH--13.2
Alk--4.69
Temp78-79
As for the dkh consumption rate, who knows? How could I figure that out?

It's a 90 gal tank right . How fancy or complicated do you want to make it ? For about 8.00 or less I can tell you how a buddy of mine in Richmond was made and its o his 90 and been up since 98 or so ? You have plenty of space there But the area will have to be cleaned up a bit . And like mentioned the water in your sump does look a little high. And you really don't need to push all you drain water through the bio tower, I'd make literal drain system like plumbing a house then feed about 25% of the water over the bio balls and then about 10 gallons per Hr to the fuge and then the rest into the wet part of the sump.. A simple clip on reflector and grow bulb for the fuge and you're done .
