You know, that actually genius. I love that design. I can also put a cap on the inlet to the fuge area and put holes in random locations for directional flow. I'm going to run with that. Thanks for the great idea! Karma!

You the only problem I see with that last design is that your putting the output of the sump pump into the fuge. So the water you are putting in there has already been filtered and skimmed so there is less food for the critters in the fuge.

Here is a picture of the way I set up my 20 gallon long as a sump/fuge. I know it's hard to make out the baffles, but the output from my overflow is running into a T then it goes to each side of the tank and then flows into the middle. I have a ball valve on both sides so I can adjust the flow to my liking. The left side is the sump which has my filter sock, skimmer, phos-ban reactor.

I can take a better picture tonight if needed.

Thanks. I'll make an adjustment and repost my sketch. That's a good call. I appreciate the input.

I think my head is going to explode!!
I realize this is a simple concept..but the options are endless...
I believe this is the design I will run with ...but the final diagrams are not shown.
jcdillin = his reference is not showing
marty = I cant find his repost after the adjustments.

I am going to use 20 gallon for fuge/sump to accomadate 55 gallon tank.
I am looking for a basic SIMPLE design.

It was kind of cool looking back in the post when otty was a "newby" and asking advice..and then watching him build the billy badass sump/fuge.
But, as I said before...my head hurts. : ( ...throw me a bone.

I know these are horrible pictures but this is mine, as you can see the PVC dumps water into each side and then it flows into the centre where it is pumped back into the tank. I used a 20 long for my 75

I will try to take some more if you want

Thats correct there is 3, one for the sump, one for the refugium and the return. I wanted to have a combined sump/fuge because lack of space and it looks cleaner.

I keep my heater and skimmer and all that stuff on the sump side.
