| Re: Mangrove seeds I think that's pretty high for macroalgae HL. I would lower it. You need to post some pics.
You need to have that light pretty close for the macroalgae and probably half as far for the mangroves. They can go pretty close to PCs but will dry out if too close to halides.
I am pretty sure I gave you this link before. Lot's of good info: http://www.twolittlefishies.com/imag...ove_manual.pdf |

| Re: Mangrove seeds 8 inches is too high. Try trimming you're mangroves a bit. remember that only the bottom third of the pod needs to be submerged in the water, but that after the pod has rooted and sprouted leaves then you can sink your pod and leave only the leaves and the top part of the mangrove to be exposed to air.
You could also look into some sort of supplemental lighting like a second PC lamp that you can hang at 8 inches while your mangroves grow around your other PC lamp shedding light onto your Macro algae. _________ &&&&20 Gal. , Millenium 1000 & 2000 filter, 130watt Corallife 50/50 reef lamp. | Re: Mangrove seeds I've got my fuge light about 6-7 inches off my fuge and my macro seems to be doing just fine.....I have 12 mangrove plants that I bought off the Hawaiian ebay guy a few weeks ago. They seem to be doing just fine with just an old aquarium strip light over them. The leaves are sprouting and the roots are starting to spread. There's a good article online at http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issu...02/feature.htm
If you do a search on the internet, you can find some good articles and advice....good luck! The attached pic is right after I bought the mangroves... _________ |

| Re: Mangrove seeds Two of my plants had small leaves when they arrived and they all had a few thick roots. I think it took about a week or so for the others to start sprouting leaves, although they are tiny ones. As of now the root system is increasing with smaller red roots starting to expand. They seem to be happy, we'll see what happens as time goes by. |
