| Made a new Sump/Refugium Well, the 20gal sump/fuge I have been using is now going to become my QT tank. I decided to take on the task of building a 38 gal acrylic sump specifically designed for my cabinet and display tank. I pretty much used the same configuration...input area w/skimmer, refugium in the middle, and return area.
This thing is wonderful and I feel a lot better about having more water in the system. It was not that hard to make and cost around $90 all told plus I have the leftover acrylic because I went ahead and bought a whole sheet and had it cut. That way I have some left to tinker with a new triple pass skimmer I am designing.
Here are some pics (I should have taken some before installing it): _________ 80 gal plywood/glass reef tank, AquaC Urchin Pro w/Mag 3, 38gal Sump/refugium w/Mag9.5, 2 Maxi Jet 1200, 2-200 watt Hagen Heaters, 100lbs CaribSea Aragonite, 80lbs handmade Aragocrete rock, 2-110W 48" VHO Actinic Blue, 2-110W 48" VHO 50/50, RO/DI, DIY coiled denitrator, Bi-color Blenny, Damsel, Yellow Tang, red/green lobophyllia, zooanthid frag, cabbage coral, asst. mushrooms, toadstool leather, frogspawn |

| Re: Made a new Sump/Refugium Hey that looks great! and it sure beats going out to the LFS and spending $300 on something similiar and not really getting what you want
You even know how to work with acrylic! You need to set up a work shop for us acrylic challenged people. I used glass because it holds together easily with silicone and I knew nothing about gluing or buying acrylic. And I know what you mean about plans changing. My original sump is now a 20 gal long coral tank for my wife. It's nice to see other peoples work and get ideas. Take some more pics and put them in the DIY section.

| Where did you buy the sheet and have it cut? I am ready to build myself a new one and am wondering if places like Lowe's Hardware carries it and will cut to size?
What kind of adhesive did you use? Thanks |
