is a fuge needed?

i have not started putting the tank together yet but i am slowly getting all the parts i need. and doing alot of reading to do it right the first time. i here alot about these fuges but are they a must for a begginer? and off the topic i plan on using an air curtian around the back and sides of the tank and a bubble disk placed under the center of the live rock. will this add enough oxy and a little movement for rock and sand?

You don't want the bubble disk in the main tank. Use a skimmer for adding oxygen to the tank.
Refugiums are for removal of phosphates mainly and the addition of more water mass.
The more water mass the easier it is to have a healthy tank.
Air bubbles in a reef tank DO NOT work. it would for FW but not a reef tank or for saltwater fish.

Ditto on what Nautilus said. I highly recommend a refugium for any reef tank!
