Hi All: I've noticed some cyano growing on the sand in my refugium. My question is, do I just let it grow and hope that it absorbs some nutrients or do I want to get it out of there? Knock on wood, I don't have cyano in my DT. I'm kind of wondering about other types of algae as well, just let it grow or attempt to keep the fuge clean?

oops...forgot, one other quick question...I have my heaters in the sand portion of the fuge, do you think hermits would have an issue surviving in there given that the temp is warmer?

I would leave the cyano. That is where you want it to grow anyways :)

And yes, they will be fine in with the heater, no worries there.

How old are the bulbs? Old bulbs lead to cyano.

I wouldn't leave it in there. Suck up as much as you can; it's going to outcompete the beneficial macro algea you have.

Just my nube opinion: wouldn't siphoning it out help reduce nutrients that it seems to absorb? Seems like a win win.

I've always found that if I let it grow in the fuge then it stays out of the DT. I'm in the camp with those saying to leave it.

I would leave it in there, otherwise it will grow in the display based on my on personal experience.
