I have been running this tank for a time now with just a sponge on the return sump pump for particulate removale and chaeto as the main nutrient reducer. There is no protien skimmer, UV, denitrator, chemical, etc., filteration.
Water is skimmed from the surface, sent to the fuge and pumped back at a rate of approx. 200gph.
The main display keeps algae free. On the down side there is little food for the 1 astrea snail that resides in the 20cube. The ricordias are being target fed to make up for the nutrient-stripped water.
This was my initial goal when tank was started Aug 06; a natural, simple set-up. Works, maybe too well.

The way it is set-up it is difficult to get pics under the stand-very tight. It is basic set-up with 24wt 50/50 PC run 24/7. The display tank surface skims to the fuge which contains about 2gl tightly packed chaeto and this flows to a sump with RO/DI auto top-off returns to display @ 200gph.
