| anything can be turned into a refugium, if it fits under your stand. 20% of the main tank is the recommended volume. the flow will depend on what is in the fuge. cheato needs more flow than others.

Yes thats the perfect place for the fuge.. Cheado is O.K But like when the Caulerpa where going asexual people did not understand the plants needs Cheado does not need the extreme water flows many like to think. _________ Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible (Doug Larson) |

The term just means refuge .. Like a Game refuge where everything is safe from predation . People now a days some 20 plus yrs of these things working like a charm are now trying to reinvent them into something they where never intended to be. I see them trying to turn them in to a second aquarium. Live rock and even in the last couple of yrs some are telling others to prefilter the water entering the refugium and even skimming the refugium supply water. | I'd like your advice on my DIY sump/fuge plan. Do you think 30 gals is too much for a 72g.
Is this overkill on my part?

| knock youe self out ' not like its going to hurt .
You will have more volume of water and if sand is put in ' it will most likely produce those nice little animals that always seem to be in short supply in most reefs , and some mangroves are a plus with a small compact lighting' that would be nice. |
