I just set up my 112G and now I'm trying to figure out how I want to partition off the sump.

The sump is a 40 gallon custom acrylic tank (48Lx12Wx16H).
Should I go with 4 chambers all equal in size? Should I make only 1 bubble trap right before the return chamber?

    Any opinions/advice is greatly appreciated.

PS what submersible return pump would you recommend?

Just a question. Why 4 chambers and why equal size??

I have a refuge section, a pump section and a skimmer section. What is the fourth for?? I made the skimmer section just large enough for the skimmer. The pump section slightly larger than necessary for the pump ( a few inches more width) and the rest for refuge.

Now, I have no experience in this. I am still setting it up. I am questioning to learn myself, not doubt your deisgn thoughts.

Thanks for all the replies. K+
I think I'm going to go with McDonalds design, so I can get a slower flow rate through my refugium.

That webpage with all the sump info is a big help, thanks a lot!

If I get some time tomorrow, I'll post some pics of the as-built.

Good luck, credit for the design goes to the 3reef community. I got A LOT of help getting there.
