| Another Sump Idea I found a guy off RC that makes sumps like this, and it just looks like it would work great!!
1) Water comes in on the left, then flows over the plate
2) Build a little eggcrate box, and make a spot on top for live rock rubble and macro, then under the box make little compartments and put mud ( kittly litter) and abounch of cleaner clams.
3) Water flows through the baffels to make sure there are no bubbles
4) HOB skimmer runns in this chamber, then water gets pumped back to tank.
Im not sure if that makes sents so I make a cheap pic. I just dont know what kinda flow to put in a refuge like this. I added the live rock rubble, mud, and cleaner clams idea, but the design comes from RC. Let me know what you think. _________ 15 Gallon Nano, Current USA 80 watt PC Light, Pengiun HOB Refug, Pair of clowns one ocellaris and one purcula!

Watch the second one over on the top row. I think that is the same sump/fuge you are thinking of. _________ Scott 265g (Peninsula)

sorry for so many questions but i am about to start construction on my second tank fuge. Already made my 30'' hang on. | My area is a 14"x12" area and I purchased the mangroves from Hawaii. It was 25 for $9.00 I keep my water 10" from the bottom glass so after my substrate and LR rubble in there it is probably 8" to 8 1/2" of water. Just make sure you keep the leaves above water and you will be OK. I was also told that if the leaves start to turn yellow you don't have enough light and should add more. I only lost about 3 pieces of the ones I ordered but I had to add more light. All I did was go to Lowes and get a 60 or 65 watt grow light and a clamp on trouble light to mount above the tank. The mangroves like fast moving water too. Hope this helps! |

| Did you go to a website to buy the mangroves? What is the difference between the Hawaii and red Florida mangroves?
around how tall are the mangroves when you first got then?
Now i am scared to start building my fuge and have the water level to high for the mangroves. |
