Default VHO Ice Caps

Does anybody have a reef with a VHO Ice Cap 660 hood on the tank? If so: Do you like them? What do you mainly grow(softies,LPS,SPS)? Do they produce alot of heat(enough to raise you temp)?

&&Right now I'm in the middle of a conversion from reef to Discus/ planted aquarium. Hair algae beat me down. Maybe a nano in the future. Everything screwed up so I'm converting to FOWLR. Wish me luck.

I have the Ice cap 660 with 440 watts of lights.
Yes they will heat up and I use 2 4" computer fans on a 24 hour timer. Without fans the temp was 85 and with fans it is 78 degrees.
I have a mixture of coral that are preatty easy to take care of. Most depends on how close to the lights they are in the tank.

Nautilus, Can you post a pic of the outside of your hood? Is it the hood that came with it or is it one you built? What spectrum are your bulbs(Aqua sun, actinic white, blue actinic)?

These are the holes I cut out of the top of the hood.
I have different fans and gaurds now... if you use any screws make sure they are stainless steel. I put plastic gaurds on top of the fans.

My plans for the light setup.
The ballast is 12 feet from the hood with the heavier wires and connect to ballast.

Sounds like you got it all together. I think I'm going to buy the hood and everything from Champion. I'm no good with wood.
