Question tek t5 for 90g

I am looking at the Tek T5HO 48" 8 bulb light system for my 90g. Would this be plenty to go deep in the tank? Being 24" deep I should go with Halides but I don't want to get in trouble with heat. This tank will have more reef life than fish so lighting is everything.

I think this will be a nice lighting arrangement for you.

I have the Tek-T5 6 bulb on my 95G. The 54w bulbs kick out plenty of light. I only have about 4 SPS but they have thrived in the 2-3 months they have been in there, so im assuming they are doing ok. The only thing that I prefer when i look at tanks with halides is the natural shadowing they produce. The T5 give a kind of "sterile" uniform light to the tank. JMO

I think a halide would make a nice addition to the tek system down the road. The tek will provide a good amount of light, it's just not going to be as strong going through 24 inches of water. So you could probably put corals in just pretty high up in the tank.

Thanks for the info. I think that I am going to go them but I have to wait for a couple pay days. I just hope my husband doesn't go ahead and get the halides. He tends to do things like that.
Thanks again.

I think that the T-5 8 bulb would be great with a 90 gal. One of my friends has a 6-bulb over his 75 and it looks amazing! T-5 is the new generation of lighting! I love it. Close to MH but without the troublesome heating issues.
