Right now I only have lps,and soft corals. I also have 1 sps.

On your tek fixture, do u run it over open water? I c there is a protective guard u can buy for the endcaps or something....did u bother? My lfs said to get some piece of plexi glass cut on the ends to protect them and leave the bulbs open so i dont block any light.....whats your opinion?

That tek fixture should come with waterproof endcaps. I dont bother putting the plexiglass on it since it blocks some of the light. Wipe the reflectors 1 once a month and you should be fine. If your willing to sacrifice a little bit of light then get the plexi shield.

I keep mine about 3-4" from top of tank.
