I was thinking the same thing.

If you have 1 150w on a 120g, good luck.

Default Metal Haide or T5

I currently use 2 150 watt Phoenix 14,000Bulbs. Is there a 20,000k bulb that is as intense as the phoenix.

Well when I planned the tank out I made the lights mounted on a pulley system that I can raise as hight as 19" off the water surface if I want just in case I ever need to. Tried to plan for every thing except I forgot about ventilation and I am dealing with that now.

to continue this 'argument', as has already been stated, t5s offer more lumens per watt then mh. I believe the conversion would be about 1.8 times the wattage, for example, my 216w t5 fixture would be about 388w in a mh fixture. Though as many have said, t5s do not have the penetrating power of mh.

i do now, i had 265 watts of p.c. and the 150 on there, i took the p.c. off last week just to see what would happen, seems o.k. the rock is setup in an L ,one corner piled all the way up and sloping down to the far side, the plan is to build one side then the other after a year or 2, i plan on getting another 150 for the other side soon though. then if i want/need to i still have the p.c.

Reef Aquatics is on a distinguished road

I will say thou...you can keep any coral under T5s..just look at RC tank of the month..
all SPS...all T5. I think T5 allows you to play around with the different light spectrum's
and get the exact look you want.

But it is all in your preference. Im a pro photographer and this is same as the Nikon vs
Canon debate...

I just switched my system. I have a 25 x 25 x 18 cube tank. I was running a Iwasaki
250watt 14,000k DE MH and two 65 watt actinics. I love the shimmer from the
halide...but I was not happy with the light coverage and I didnt like all the shaded
areas.

Now I have 10 24watt T5 bulbs over my tank. A combo of ATI and KZ bulbs. All
I can say is wow! My corals all pop...the colors look awesome! I have 2 KZ Figi
purple bulbs right over my Orange Monti cap and its never look better...

Oh i always think its personal peference but i must admit im a t5 kinda guy.

I got an MH fixture a few months back and i must admit i hate it. Its too bright, my soft corals like my mushrooms just stay shrivelled most of the day and tbh i haven't had the results i wanted.
I am going to go back to t5 when i have the money. At the moment tho i only have a twin t5 fixture, and i feel like i should have at least 3 - 4 so im just saving for a new fixture at the moment
