Default Reef PAR Database

Everyone in the hobby refers to PAR a lot when talking about their lighting, but I wonder how many even know what their lights put out or even what a good reading is in the first place. I'm going to start a purely comparative database of test results so people can see what certain types of lights actually put how, how it falls off in water and hopefully learn some more about reef lighting.

Sounds great, thanks for putting this together. Who is doing the testing?

I was just talking to someone about the different readings we are getting with our club's meter. There are big differences in numbers between tanks besides just the lights. We're not sure what all of the variables are. I'll follow along here.

I'm guessing water clarity could be huge. Even salinity changes the density of water and could play a role. This topic needs to be explored a lot before most of us will understand it.

Sweet, manufactures numbers are better than nothing, but independent testing is best for sure. thanks much for doing this.
