Default Recommended lighting for a 36 gallon bow front

I have a tank with the stock hood and lighting and would like to upgrade. Just wondering if anyone had some suggestions. The tank was started about 6 months ago and contains about 40 lbs of crushed coral, 35 lbs of live rock, a red volitan lion fish, niger trigger, scopas tang, red striped sleeper goby, sally lightfoot, strawberry crab, hawaiian feather duster, a red fromia starfish, and a coral banded shrimp. Any help would be great

Hm..a fish only tank? Are you planning to add any corals? If not, then lighting is purely subjective. What makes the fish look more vibrant. That is easily achieved with a daylight spectrum and actinics, or a 50/50 bulb. Do you want brighter light? Your least expensive option would probably a double strip normal output fluorescent.

What are you trying to achieve with the upgrade?

Welcome to 3 Reef!

I'm trying to achieve a better looking tank. With possibly more coralline algae growth. The tank is FOWLR not planning on adding any corals as of now. Going to make a refugium for that, but that's a whole different thread for me later

Cerpin, I would try a daylight spectrum and actinics 50/50 at 10k like Birdlady indicated. Coralife has a great light setup. I love my 48" that i have on my 90g. It give my fish great color and my coral seem to be doing just great with it. I am running at 2.8watts per gallon.

Good luck with the tank. Keep us posted on that refugium!

This is the light I got for my 36 bow front. just make sure you order the mounting legs if you dont intend on hanging it or sitting right on the tank itself.
