Default plastic support in middle of tank and lighting

Is it ok to put 1 MH of a high wattage in the middle of a custom hood or will the plastic support bracket holding the tank together get in the way?
Or would 2 lower wattage MH on each side be better? I have a 72 gallon bowfront and it has that annoying plastic strip holding the front and back together.

depending on the length of the tank, the depth, the corals to be housed will matter what lighting. two bulbs are better than one for no shadows or dark spots with a center brace. a par meter will tell you what bulb to use for a specific coral that is to be housed.

With MH, you want to have 1 bulb for every 2 feet of tank. You are better off with 2 bulbs.
