Another update. Sent the faulty ballast back and they have received it, but haven't shipped out my replacement. I have also sent them 2 emails in the last 3 days...no reply.

Plan to call them tomorrow, not real happy at this point, considering half of my tank is MH lit and the other isn't

Told them in my email I planned to blog about my experience thus far...hoping that might get them to respond!

Would seem my incentive worked. Received an email early this morning with a USPS tracking number for the replacement ballast. Hopefully it will work.

Ok here's my 2cents on Odyssea lighting. My wife got me this for Xmas 48" 216W (4-54 watt) Quad T6 Fluorescent Light Fixture (W/B) - 506041. This unit worked great however I felt it wasn't enough lighting for the SPS that I now have and the ones i want in the future, so I thought well.... That light is great I'm going to order their 48" 760W Metal Halide System (Electronic Version) - 504023. I got the unit and set it up, very nice looking. Within 30 minutes one of the ballasts smoked. It took about a 1 1/2 weeks to get a replacement, I had to pay shipping to send it back. I recieved the replacement and it worked great........for about a week. That one smoked, I've waited 4 days for a reply back and finally got one today that they will swap it out if I send it back.

I now have 2 IceCap 250 Watt Electronic Metal Halide / HQI Ballast (Saltwater Aquarium Supplies > Lighting > Accessories > Ballasts > Metal Halide > 250 Watt > Electronic ) on the way to replace both of them. Guess I'll have the original ones for a replacement but either way I'm not to happy with the ballasts or thier support.

_________

75g mixed tank
2x 250w HQI MH
4x65w T5 accintics
Coralife 220 Skimmer
29g fuge/sump
1400gph Overflow
29w UV

They took a while to get my replacement to me too. They did pay for shipping though. They sent me an email with a shipping label I could print.

Replacement ballast worked though. I'm planning to upgrade to IceCap's as well. The ballasts seem to be working, but after that first one going up in smoke, they make me nervous.

I am trying to understand this. Do they not use regular PC bulbs and you have to order through them?

Are most of the problems MH and not PC?

Seems pretty iffy, and having to pay for shipping when its there problem is crazy.... but thats the reason for the good price.

tempting.
