moon lights

I would like to get my hands on some good, non expensive moonlights. anyone know of any good places to order these. Ive looked around and am not too sure what to get so any suggestions would be helpful. Im looking for a kit for around $20 or less.... I know it is unconventional but what about using this Dual Blue Cold Cathode Kit: CrazyPC Computers I saw an article on these a while ago but cannot seem to find it now..

Um, do you want to do anything with the light? Dimmer or just want a plain one? Really i think that 20-25$ is the average price of those lights. Your LFS should have them or maybe you can ask if they can order you one.

Do your moonlights need to have a blue hue- if not I can tell you what I've been usinig- I bought a 6 foot rope light at my local home depot for about $8.00 - these do sometimes come in colors but the white was all they had when I went.

Right now i'm using my Chrismas lights and drape them over the top of my tank!!! I replaced the multi-colors with just blue!!!!

No, I don't know anything about them. I like the blue color. Basically it is just a way of being able to see your tank inhabitants after the lights go out without having to use your main lights. It also helps to replicate the moon's glow, thus the name moonlights, and it is supposeto be able to stimulate spawning etc.

I did my own with some wire mold, ultra blue LED's, a small transformer, wire and resistors. All the items were purchased at radio shack and was under twenty bucks. The reason I did this was it allowed me to place the LED's where I wanted and are easily moved if I ever change my mind.

wow, it sounds like you can use just about any light that is blue even christmas lights... Am i mistaken that moonlights have to have some kind of special color or spectrum or will pretty much any low lit light work? In other words, why do people spend so much money on moonlights when they can just use normal lights, is it for more than aesthetic reasons?
