Default magnetic vs. electronic MH ballast

What's the truth about the difference between the 2. I've read that the magnetic ballast puts out a hum and the electronic ballast is quiet and more effecient. For the difference in price is it really worth getting the electronic ballast.

I just bought a Dual 175 from cool touch lighting, and the hum is not that bad at all. Not even as loud as my mag 7 humming on the bottom of my sump. I heard the magnetics also push out more light through the bulbs.

I fix my mag7 noise by tilting my mag7 on the side... It's no longer flush at the bottom of my fudge...
